Right outside my office, a visitor on her way to Tennessee. Not too often you get to see a running steam locomotive.

Kinja'd!!!

And something taken when the camera was accidentally set to some odd mode that I’ve never used. Turned out pretty well, and is something I’ll have to try again if I can figure out how I did it...

Didn’t disappear. Looks awesome. I always look at the wheels on trains. That’s a nice set of wheels.

Aperture priority, with the aperture wide open on a fast lens?

Looking at the camera, I see the mode on the settings dial has a painter’s pallete. There’s probably a sub-menu for these artistic effects.

I’m quite jealous. I’d love to see that in person.

This year, I’ve become much more of a railfan than before. We made a trip to Steamtown in Scranton PA and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. We were able to see running steam engines in both places. It was quite an experience.

In that case, I’m suspecting something like “tilt-shift” as the mode name.

That is so cool. I saw it a few years ago in Western Nebraska. It was the only time in my life that I’ve stopped at railroad crossing for a steam engine.

Awesome, I used to catch UP steam when it went through Kirkwood when I was younger I still remember waiting close to 10 hours for 3985 when it got delayed way back in like the early 2000s

Nice. I should have burned some vacation and made the trip up there to see 844. I’ve never seen it in person. I could have made it a train day with a trip to the Museum of Transportation.
